Björkö Shawl

$6.99

My father grew up in Umeå, where after the great city fire in the late 19th century, birch trees were planted to prevent future fires from spreading. Umeå is still known as the city of birches.
Where I live in Östergötland there are of course also many birches. In the vicinity of our community there is a place
called Björkö. Probably because the birch trees grow in clusters and are surrounded by beautiful meadows and fields.
The environment around Björkö is stunningly beautiful. There is now a school and kindergarten on that site with
Waldorf school where my children have gone up to ninth grade,” is how designer Anna describes her relationship with birch trees.
