Feather Cardigan

– I have designed a dress cardigan that is light as a feather to wear, says Helen Olsson who designed the cardigan. The cardigan has decorative braids, especially beautiful is the sleeves of the cardigan where braids form the sleeve cuff.
The cardigan is knitted from top to bottom and in one piece, which means minimal assembly. Weave in both ends, the cardigan is completely assembly-free.
The classical button band is replaced with a twisted edge, which is knitted at the same time as the rest of the cardigan. That means the cardigan is knit back and forth (purl stitches). The sleves are knitted on circular needle. The cardigan looks best with a small buckle or pin/brooch at the top, and then keeping in open below.

Description

The cardigan is available in size XS – XXL, i.e. 6 sizes, with garment chest measurement up to 138 cm.
The cardigan fit is nice and loose, and if wanted the experienced knitter can adjust to a larger size by changing yarn and needle size.

The cardigan is test knitted in a variety of yarn: Lettlopi, Nutiden, Svensk Ull, Tencel Blow, Plötulopi/one thread mohair, Ullcentrum 3-thread wool. You can of course knit the cardigan in a different yarn with the same stretch/100 m, but keep in mind that the cardigan is designed to be “light as a feather” and a different yarn can affect the experience.

Gauge for the Feather cardigan:
14 st x 21 rows = 10 x 10 cm in stockinette using 6 mm needles. Measure after blocking, lying flat.

Needles:
Circular needle 4,5 mm for neckline + ribbing and 6 mm for garment. Adjust needle size
to achieve correct gauge.
